Statutory Reporting Technician

American National is currently seeking candidates for the position of Statutory Reporting Technician in the Financial Reporting Department.

 

Responsibilities:

 

State and Regulatory filings

  • Complete state and regulatory filings on an annual and quarterly basis
  • Ensure all filings are complete, accurate and made timely in accordance with state checklists and internal compliance schedules
  • Coordinate the signing of state and regulatory filings with executive support staff
  • Maintain documentation and support for all filings both physically and electronically

 

NAIC Statutory Statement filings

  • Support the quarterly/annual filing of statutory statements with the NAIC by completing statutory close calendar, jurat pages, organizational schedules. supplemental exhibits and interrogatories
  • Coordinate the signing of statutory filings with executive support staff
  • Coordinate printing of the quarterly/annual statutory statements with internal reproduction team

 

Departmental support

  • Maintain monthly ledger close checklist
  • Monitor statutory compliance email inbox
  • Assist manager in reviews of system access to ensure compliance with internal control guidelines
  • Assist in preparing and compiling automated financial reports

 

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a two-year associates degree or equivalent college level course work. Preference is for an accounting major
  • Requires 1 to 3 years of work experience. Preference is for experience in an accounting environment and/or prior experience with American National
  • Requires proficient knowledge of spreadsheets & ability to operate Microsoft Office programs

 

 Skills and Abilities:

  • The incumbent will work in a fast-paced office environment, with highly regimented filing/reporting requirements and strict deadlines
  • Ability to understand prioritization to meet deadlines, work well under pressure, and communicate effectively with internal and external parties
  • Ability to adequately perform self-review of work to ensure high level accuracy and proper presentation of all reports
  • Must be dedicated, well organized, able to multi-task and work independently and in a team environment
  • High-level initiative, follow-through & accountability for actions
  • Ability to work overtime as needed to fulfill the essential functions and additional responsibilities, which may include special projects as necessary
