Associate Business Analyst – Life Insurance Systems


American National is seeking candidates with technical talent, who are analytical and interested in an opportunity to participate in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team! As a Business Analyst, you will be a catalyst for innovation through facilitation, cross-functional collaboration, and solution-driven results. The candidate selected will partner with a variety of internal teams and individuals across the enterprise to develop, measure, analyze, and improve processes, programs, and applications. The most qualified candidate should enjoy a technical work environment, demonstrate the ability to champion new concepts, and confidently communicate recommendations.


Primary responsibilities will include:


  • Develop and enhance respective systems that support Life and Annuity processing
  • Collaborate with business units to produce detailed written requirements for a variety of small to medium size system changes
  • Update rules-based system tables that control processing and correspondence for changes
  • Perform testing of small to medium sized system changes – define test criteria, create and enter test data, test system changes and evaluate test results
  • Exercise regression testing tools and testing techniques to verify system changes have not adversely impacted other production system program code
  • Conduct quality control audits to ensure successful transitions
  • Provide system production support to the business including but not limited to: production problem resolution, system training, answering system related questions, provide system status updates and assist in resolving any system related issues


The most qualified candidate will possess the following skills and experience:


  • Completed college degree (Business Administration, Computer Science and Management Information Systems degrees are strongly preferred), with two (2) to four (4) years of full-time job experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience with reporting systems (Cognos, Crystal reports, Focus)
  • Understanding of SOAP-UI for testing web services
  • Experience with Automated Workflow Systems (BPM or similar systems)
  • Prior insurance experience/knowledge (preferred)
  • One (1) to two (2) years proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access or Sequel
  • Understanding of regression testing and production parallels (required)
  • Strong analytical ability with an emphasis on technical aptitude
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
