Actuarial Business System Analyst


American National is seeking an Actuarial Business Systems Analyst to join our team!  


Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Provide system support, procedural support and production support for the Actuarial Product Development department.
  • Support the actuarial aspects of new product development which include the development of calculation tools to model life and annuity products, development and implementation of new products and illustration software development.
  • Will be involved in day-to-day departmental functions such as data analysis, rate development, product Illustration and business support.


Requirements and Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Candidates without a college degree are expected to have at least 2 years of full time progressive experience and possess the following:
  1. <span 72="">Mathematical ability to understand the fundamental concepts of Life Insurance and Annuity products and model these concepts with algebraic functions. A fundamental understanding of programming logic is needed to work with Excel, Access, VBA and other applications which use procedural and functional logic.
  2. <span 72="">Knowledge of the fundamentals of Life Insurance and Annuity products.
  3. <span 72="">Knowledge of divisions outside Actuarial departments including: IT, LIA Marketing, and Compliance and general understanding of how these divisions interact.
  4. <span 72="">Analytical tenacity to test insurance products on our administrative systems.
  5. <span 72="">Possess interpersonal skills required to promote cooperation from all levels of personnel.
