American National is seeking a Learning and Development Specialist for our Corporate Training department in Human Resources.  This role resides in our Galveston, TX corporate office.  The Learning and Development Specialist will design and develop training materials, curriculum and resources, perform needs assessments, and analyze training effectiveness.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate a variety of learning and development initiatives including but not limited to leadership development and organizational development.
  • Create and curate learning solutions that enhance organizational learning for business success, including instructor-led (classroom and virtual), e-learning, and microlearning programs.
  • Engage in self-directed work on a daily basis; set time tables for project completion, manage resources, prioritize tasks and work with minimal supervision.
  • Travel 25%-50% based on business needs to other corporate locations.


Qualified candidates will have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in facilitating to adult learners at the corporate level
  • Certification to deliver DDI Interaction Management® (IM®) courses
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating L&D initiatives and programs, including L&D needs analysis and evaluation, curriculum and content design, and instructional methodologies and modalities
  • Knowledge of current best practices and thought practices related to coaching, mentoring, performance management, leadership and adult learning
  • Strong technology skills as relates to creating and supporting effective learning solutions, including experience with the development and implementation of eLearning/online learning, LMS, multi-media learning, etc.
  • Effective planning and management skills, dynamic facilitation and presentation ability, excellent written and verbal skills, strong motivational style, effective time management skills, and solid logic and reasoning capability
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
