Retirement Services Processor I

American National is seeking a full-time team member at the Galveston, Texas campus, to support the Retirement Services Department. The candidate selected will be responsible for providing administrative plan provision under the retirement services administration contract and allocation agreements.




  • Responsible for providing and maintaining recordkeeping services for plan sponsors under the Allocation Only Service Agreement which includes providing annual and audit reports, and reviewing distributions request for accuracy
  • Responsible for poviding and maintaining services for non-service plans which includes completing transmittal forms for contribution deposits within American National's policies and procedures that govern Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and reviewing distribution requests for accuracy. 
  • Responsible for processing contract terminations for plan sponsors under the Allocation Only Service Agreement in accordance with regulations of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Department of Labor (DOL) regulations
  • Works within American National's policies and prcedures that govern Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) 
  • Responsible for processing distribution checks that are dated and/or require reissuing through Accounts Payable
  • Interact with agents and plan sponsors regarding payments, distributions, and group contacts regarding the implementation of new plans
  • Responsible for reviewing 1099-R’s for all distributions- prior to mailing, continually ensuring accuracy
  • Other duties, as assigned



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year completed degree in related field or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • 0-3 years of work experience in retirement planning, insurance, or the financial industry, preferred
  • Prior banking and/or accounting experience beneficial
  • Must be an effective and organized multi-tasker, with the ability to adapt to a slower pace when items require your undivided attention for review
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be comfortable managing questions and requests regarding 401(k) plans with ease and confidence
    • American National will provide support and onsite training
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must have attention to detail, with ability to review data and identify inaccuracies
  • Passion to provide the highest quality of customer service to clients
  • Must have the aptitude to navigate various computer programs simultaneously, on dual computer monitors (Including-Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Must have the ability to effectively prioritize and deliver results under strict deadlines
  • Must have the desire to continuously enhance current skills and develop
