Compliance Analyst I

American National is seeking an motivated, analytical individual to join our LIA Compliance Team! 

 

The Compliance Analyst I will be responsible for the following:

  • Gain a working knowledge of the company’s life and annuity administrative processes to assist with LIA Compliance controls and procedures to ensure adherence to mandated regulations.
  • Performs compliance testing of established controls for  AML, OFAC, Suitability Post Issue Review, New York Regulation 60, and other regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Analyzing and processing New York Regulation 60 new business applications and work items.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of Corporate and LIA Compliance regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Reviews, researches, and drafts Department of Insurance and consumer complaint responses that comply with Corporate, LIA Compliance, and state mandated requirements. Also identifies potential complaint activity trends and communicates such trends to management for further review.
  • Acts as a liaison between Life Insurance Administration, and internal and external auditors by coordinating testing schedules, explaining controls, and assisting with department reviews. Also assists these auditors, as requested, with life insurance and annuity contract research.
  • Performs compliance testing of established controls for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), AML, OFAC, Suitability Post Issue Review, New York Regulation 60, and other regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Represents LIA Compliance in other compliance related projects on behalf of Life Insurance Administration and participates in cross functional workgroups that are focused on identifying compliance risks and providing effective and efficient solutions.
  • Performs general compliance duties and assists with special projects as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • A minimum of three years life and annuity insurance related experience.
  • Insurance/Financial Industry designation(s) or completed coursework toward insurance designations; such as LOMA’s ALMI and AIRC curriculum.
  • Some understanding of the federal and state regulatory bodies and how they influence and mandate insurance industry compliance responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.  Must be able to clearly relate, explain, and compose suitable business correspondence.
