How you will make an impact

  • Primarily oversee high-severity multi-line litigation claims for all lines of business (Personal and Commercial) to include property, liability, first- and third-party exposure cases; errors and omission (E&O) claims; direct action lawsuits; commercial agriculture and construction litigation; as well as actions against the company for extra contractual exposures
  • Review the notice of loss to determine proper coverage and establish/maintain proper reserves
  • Complete thorough investigation to ensure correct assessment of the exposure(s)
  • Manage all correspondence in relation to litigation files and document accordingly
  • Promote professional relationships with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, vendors, and leadership team(s) regarding the ongoing status of claims files
  • Review legal expenses incurred in the defense of the litigation
  • Conduct reviews of various files to ensure technical accuracy
  • Provide large loss reporting to reinsurers
  • Participate and lead round table claims committee when applicable
  • Partner with a specialist and/or leadership on any claims where additional input is essential
  • Produce reinsurance notices and Errors and Omissions (E&O) components
  • Manage direct action claims against the company, evaluating further contractual exposures
  • Consider alternative dispute resolutions, utilizing creative tactics when appropriate
  • Oversee and work on special projects
  • Participate/Appear/Travel for court-ordered mediations/depositions and settlements, when applicable
  • Maintain required adjuster license continuing education (CE) credits


 Minimum Qualifications

  • Four (4) year completed degree in related field or applicable work experience
  • Twelve (12) years of claims experience: Minimum, five-six (5-6) years complex bodily injury and Minimum (5-6) years litigation claims handling experience (Combination)
  • Demonstrated working experience with bodily injury, litigation, construction defect claims
  • Claims handling experience in the states of NY. and NJ.
  • Must have direct work experience with the  NY. labor laws
  • Currently hold an active (New York) adjuster license or have interest in obtaining following date of hire (American National will incur fees associated / No out of pocket expenses)
  • Flexibility to travel -minimal*

  • Remote work experience, with the ability to demonstrate effective performance
  • An operative and organized multi-tasker, with the ability to focus when items require your attention for review, as you will be tasked with managing your day-to-day work schedule and goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable managing difficult conversations with ease and confidence
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Aptitude to navigate various computer programs simultaneously (Using Microsoft Office applications and internal systems)
  • High attention to detail and thorough follow-up
  • Passion to provide the highest quality of customer service
