This role is focused on extracting, organizing, and distributing management information using the art and science of programming. This role is motivated by providing valuable information to those who are responsible for developing corporate strategy. In many instances, this involves evaluating data structures without documentation and developing meaningful databases and reports from nothing. They strive to develop their knowledge of the business, technology, and project management, but their main source of knowledge enhancement is in the area of programming and report development. At any point, this person could be called upon to utilize any of these four disciplines: business, technology, project management, and programming. The position will report directly to the P&C Property Claims division and assist in the direction forward to systemically improve our claim handling.
Essential Functions
- Works with Claims leadership, Quality Improvement, and other business areas to understand data structures, determine data definitions, and evaluate the accuracy of data elements and metrics with minor guidance from their supervisor or manager.
- Writes data extraction software code with minor guidance from their supervisor or manager using the tools, standards, and platforms in use at the time.
- Tests software code with minor guidance from their supervisor or manager using the tools, standards, and platforms in use at the time.
- Develops databases, spreadsheets, and reports for use throughout the enterprise with moderate guidance from their supervisor or manager using the tools, standards, and platforms in use at the time.
- Develops and maintains distribution methods to distribute management information, as appropriate, throughout the enterprise with minor guidance from their supervisor or manager using the tools, standards, and platforms in use at the time.
- Ensures quality is evident in what they produce.
- Ensures the data they produce remains secure, respecting corporate privacy and security procedures.
- Researches technology with moderate guidance from their supervisor or manager.
- Finds errors and corrects them in the software quickly and correctly.
- Responds in a timely manner to allow the department to meet its service-level agreements for data availability.
- Provides work status in a timely fashion about their own work activities when requested from their supervisor, manager and/or the department head.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, computer science or a related field, or two years of experience, or one year of experience as a business intelligence developer I, or an associate degree in a related field and two years of experience.

Salary for this position can range from $60,401 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $75,501 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
