Learning & Development Specialist

American National is seeking a Learning and Development Specialist for our Corporate Training department in Human Resources.  The Learning and Development Specialist will develop, design, and facilitate learning curriculums and resources, perform needs assessments, and analyze training effectiveness.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Create and curate learning solutions that enhance organizational learning for business success, including instructor-led (classroom and virtual), e-learning, and microlearning programs.
  • Facilitate a variety of learning and development initiatives including but not limited to leadership development and organizational development.
  • Engage in self-directed work on a daily basis; set time tables for project completion, manage resources, prioritize tasks and work with minimal supervision.


Qualified candidates will have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in facilitating to adult learners at the corporate level
  • Strong technical skills as relates to instructional design and supporting effective learning solutions such as eLearning and virtual learning. Proficiency in Articulate360 and Rise360 a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating L&D initiatives and programs, including L&D needs analysis and evaluation, curriculum and content design, and instructional methodologies and modalities
  • Knowledge of current best practices and thought practices related to coaching, mentoring, performance management, leadership and adult learning
  • Effective planning and management skills, dynamic facilitation and presentation ability, excellent written and verbal skills, strong motivational style, effective time management skills, and solid logic and reasoning capability
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with or certification in DDI Interaction Management® (IM®) courses a plus


Salary for this position can range from $73,182 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $91,477 for more highly qualified candidates.  Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
