Property Claims Representative 

American National is seeking a full-time (Monday-Friday) industry or construction professional, with aptitude to organize, investigate, negotiate, and settle property claims.

Responsibilities

  • Review notices of loss to determine proper coverage (Property claims)
  • Conduct phone investigations to determine the appropriate method of inspection of both first and third-party damages
  • Establish and maintain proper reserves
  • Communicate and promote professional relationships with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and internal department(s) regarding the ongoing status of claims files
  • Draft professional written correspondence regarding various aspects of the claim
  • Conclude claims in compliance with all state rules and regulations, in a timely manner
  • Maintain continuing education (CE) requirements for state licensing

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of claims handling, construction, or alike work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent education/work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4-year completed degree in related field (Criminal Justice, Insurance and Risk Management, Business, Communications) or equal claims/construction work experience
  • Currently hold an active (Rhode Island) adjuster license or obtain following date of hire (American National will incur fees associated/No out of pocket expenses)
  • Working knowledge of Xactimate or comparable estimating programs
  • Understanding of statutes, case laws, and policy contracts
  • Passion to provide the highest quality of customer service
  • Effective and organized multi-tasker, with ability to focus when items require your undivided attention for review
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to negotiate
  • Ability to effectively manage time and provide appropriate follow-up
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to navigate various computer programs simultaneously on dual computer monitors, while utilizing noted programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, and internal systems)
