Senior Claims Representative (Property)
American National is seeking an industry or construction professional, with aptitude to organize, investigate, negotiate, and settle property claims. As a Senior Claims Representative, you will assume responsibility for property damage/liability claims, requiring a high degree of investigation and decision-making skills. The ideal candidate will have work experience in claims adjusting, construction, or relevant industry work experience, with excellent communication skills. 


  • Review notices of loss to determine proper coverage (Homeowner / Property claims)
  • Conduct phone investigations to determine the appropriate method of inspection of both first and third-party property damages
  • Establish and maintain proper reserves
  • Communicate and promote professional relationships with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and internal department(s) regarding the ongoing status of claims files
  • Draft professional written correspondence regarding various aspects of the claim
  • Conclude claims in compliance with all state rules and regulations, in a timely manner
  • Maintain continuing education (CE) requirements for state licensing



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 4-year completed degree in related field (Criminal Justice, Insurance and Risk Management, Business, Communications) or equivalent claims/construction work experience, preferred
  • Two years of property claims adjusting or construction work experience (preferred)
  • Currently hold an active (Rhode Island) adjuster license or willingness to obtain following date of hire (American National will incur all fees associated/No out of pocket expenses)
  • Working knowledge of Xactimate or alike estimating program(s), (preferred)
  • Understanding of statutes, case laws, and policy contracts, desired
  • Must be an effective and organized multi-tasker, with the ability to focus when items require your undivided attention for review
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have the ability to negotiate
  • Must have the ability to effectively organize items, with focus on time management and follow-up
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must have the passion to provide the highest quality of customer service to clients
  • Must have the aptitude to navigate various computer programs simultaneously, on dual computer monitors, while utilizing the noted programs (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced work environment
