The IT Team Lead is considered an internal expert in the application of concepts and skills, and knowledge of the company’s internal policies and procedures to solve very complex problems in creative and effective ways. The incumbent must have the leadership skills to assume a formal supervisory role. Analysis and design development tasks assigned to this role are extremely complex assignments, where initiative and independent judgment are mandatory to search out the appropriate course of actions within the context of broad goals and long-term objectives. This position develops methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and must manage multiple relationships with the business while protecting the integrity and reliability of the applications. This role is tasked with making decisions that will positively influence the uptime and full recovery of their systems from outages. The position is held responsible for the reliability and business system health of their assigned applications. This role is often called upon to assume a “team leader” role, which makes them the front-line supervisor for a team of between four and 15 developers, coordinating their team’s work, conducting their performance appraisals, and serving as the official account manager to a business unit. This position will oversee projects and software development on an installation of Guidewire’s InsuranceSuite platform and applications.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Prepares the initial problem definition, defines the project scope and objectives, determines specific requirements to be satisfied, and designs system solutions for all the levels of service requests.
  • Manages projects, obtaining approval from the business units on the project deliverables, and ensures current corporate project management standards are applied.
  • Evaluates and recommends to IT and business management the special hardware or software required to implement a system successfully.
  • Supports the staffing of business deliverables and coordinates the work for the group of developers.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Eight or more years of experience.
  • At least one year of supervisory/management experience.
  • Solid knowledge of business (insurance marketing, accounting and/or insurance administration) processes and procedures. 
  • Skilled in the application of business and technical concepts and be able to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways. 
  • Ability to develop detailed definitions of proposed solutions, which includes: database design, screen and report definitions, data flow, detailed transaction processing requirements, the definition of system interfaces, detailed program specifications, and designing system test cases. 
  • Knowledge of Guidewire’s InsuranceSuite and BillingCenter applications are preferred.

Salary for this position can range from $97,740 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $146,610 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
