American National is currently seeking an Internal Auditor for our League City, TX location. This position will perform audits of Managing General Underwriters (MGUs), Managing General Agents (MGAs), and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) to ensure compliance with contract provisions and regulatory requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform audits of MGUs, MGAs, and TPAs to review for fulfillment of contractual terms and compliance with regulatory requirements. Audits may be conducted independently or as part of a team.
  • Participate in risk assessments and help develop a focused and risk-based audit program of the audit work to be completed.
  • Conduct walkthroughs with auditees, and review policies and procedures, to gain an understanding of business processes and internal controls.
  • Evaluate internal controls and help identify control weaknesses.
  • Perform testing to verify premium, refunds, and claims are administered in line with policy provisions and regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Identify and gather sufficient, competent evidence to support audit results.
  • Effectively communicate written audit observations and findings.
  • Effectively communicate orally by interacting with all levels of employees and management within the Company, MGU, MGA, and/or TPA during each audit.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration or Bachelor’s degree with prior insurance experience
  • A positive and professional attitude with a strong work ethic and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and other office applications
  • CPA, CIA, or CFE designations are a plus
  • Knowledge and experience related to auditing or administering health claims and health underwriting would be helpful
  • Position requires travel to various field locations across the U.S., possibly up to one week per month
