Business Intelligence Administrator

Business Intelligence Administrator

The Business Intelligence Administrator is Responsible for the Delivery of the corporate meaningful Information and the Overall Architecture of the Data Delivery Solutions using Cognos, Power BI, SAS, Netezza, SSIS, SSAS, and various scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.  The Business Intelligence Administrator will Support the Data Warehouse team as well as the business community with their maintenance and reporting needs and ensure the quality of the data presentation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Cognos Administration:
    • Manage installations, upgrades and configuration
    • Security
    • Troubleshooting
    • Developer and User support
    • Administer, configure, maintain, deploy and support models, packages, reports, jobs, events, subscriptions and dashboards
  • Power BI (Power BI Service and On-Premise PBIRS) Administration:
    • Manage installations, upgrades and configuration
    • Security
    • Troubleshooting
    • Developer and User support
    • Administer, configure, maintain, deploy and support models, data sets, reports, dashboards, subscriptions and apps
    • Maintain underlying support systems for PowerBI:
      • SQL Server
        • Database administration, security, maintenance, backup and recovery
      • SSAS
        • Database administration, security, maintenance, backup and recovery
      • Power BI On-Premise Gateway
  • SAS Administration:
    • Manage installations, upgrades and configuration
    • Security
    • Troubleshooting
    • Developer and User support
    • System backup and recovery
  • Netezza Administration:
    • Manage installations, upgrades and configuration
    • Security
    • Troubleshooting
    • Developer and User support
    • Database backup and recovery
    • Query authoring and troubleshooting
  • Tune all Data Warehouse systems for efficiency and ensure availability
  • Create, maintain, monitor, and support applicable security groups and accounts for Data Warehouse systems
  • Support upgrades and technical releases for Data Warehouse systems
  • Monitor and support multiple jobs, scripts, and events
  • Create and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.) used in Data Warehouse systems
  • Write and maintain technical documentation
  • Implement and maintain security, manage server components, and proactively monitor application resources
  • Monitor and manage scheduled jobs to assure that stakeholders receive analytics to drive their business
  • Determine how Business Intelligence (BI) will provide the information required to make effective business decisions; Translating requirements into applications that employ appropriate decision support and reporting tools
  • Develop relationships with the users that foster client ties
  • Works closely with the users and the technical teams in prioritizing data and information requirements
  • Helps manage user expectations effectively
  • Support User Acceptance Testing effort
  • Develop training materials for the users
  • Understand business workflows to technically incorporate them.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Knowledge and proficiency in any of the following:
    • IBM Cognos 11+ Business Intelligence components and relationships to system configurations
    • Cognos Administration, Framework Manager and Report Studio
    • Understanding of Power BI components and relationships to system configurations
    • Power BI Administration and Power BI Desktop
    • Administering Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SSAS and the use of SQL Server Management Studio
    • Microsoft SSIS
    • Administering SAS and the use of SAS Management Console, Enterprise Miner and Enterprise Guide
    • Administering Netezza and the use of NZAdmin and Aginity
    • Administering Windows-based computers
    • Administering Linux-based computers
    • Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python and Bash
    • Version Control tools, such as TFS
  • Strong ANSI-SQL skills
  • Good understanding of Data Analysis
  • Ability to function, prioritize, and execute tasks in high-pressure altering environment
  • Ability to self-direct with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to conceptually understand the direction for the organization's objectives and goals
  • Data Warehousing Study
