Business Intelligence Administrator

The Business Intelligence Administrator is responsible for the delivery of meaningful corporate information, overall architecture of the data delivery solutions, data presentation quality and reporting support and maintenance which supports the Data Warehouse team as well as the business community.



  • Administer Cognos and Power BI reporting environments, Netezza data warehouse system and any additional systems used by the Data Warehouse\Business Intelligence department
  • Support installations, upgrades, technical releases, configuration and troubleshooting for systems
  • Create, maintain, monitor, and support security frameworks for systems
  • Tune all systems for efficiency and ensure availability
  • Monitor system health and resources via jobs, scripts, and events
  • Write and maintain technical documentation
  • Determine how Business Intelligence will provide the information required to make effective business decisions; Translating requirements into applications that employ appropriate decision support and reporting tools
  • Develop relationships with the users that foster client ties
  • Works closely with the users and the technical teams in prioritizing data and information requirements
  • Helps manage user expectations effectively
  • Support User Acceptance Testing effort
  • Develop training materials for the users
  • Understand business workflows to technically incorporate them.
  • Other Duties as Assigned



  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical people.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot complex SQL queries
  • Familiarity with database backup, recovery and performance tuning procedures
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash
  • Basic experience in administering Windows Servers and PCs
  • Good understanding of Data Analysis
  • Experience with the Cognos and/or Power BI reporting platforms is a plus
  • Experience with Netezza or PostgreSQL is a plus
  • Experience with SQL Server, SSMS, SSIS, and SSAS is a plus
  • Experience with administering Linux-based computers is a plus
