Health Underwriter Trainee

American National is seeking professional, career-oriented individuals for the position of Underwriter Trainee at our South Shore Harbor location in League City, Texas.  We are seeking individuals who have strong technical skills in addition to exceptional verbal and written communication skills.  This position requires daily communication with both internal and external customers; the ideal candidate should be motivated, articulate, and customer oriented.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  • Underwrite new business and renewals.  The person in this position must ascertain what information is needed to make an informed decision, evaluate medical and non-medical facts, and select acceptable risks according to established underwriting guidelines;
  • Work collaboratively with our agency field force to obtain information regarding risk classification and required underwriting data;
  • Develop and maintain a professional relationship with our agency field force.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two years college;  College Degree preferred
  • Familiarity with medical terminology required; completion of medical terminology course preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to achieve objectives through interpersonal relationships

 

Candidates must be analytical, organized, self-motivated, and possess the ability to multi-task and work in a team oriented environment.
