American National is seeking an Associate Systems Programmer.  This is an entry level Systems Programming technical position responsible for assisting senior team members with the installation and maintenance of computing infrastructure software.  Under the direction of senior staff, this position is responsible for day-to-day assignments that help to teach and reinforce basic systems programming skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Working in an apprentice role, utilize training materials as appropriate to complete training exercises as assigned.
  • Assist senior staff with the installation of systems software and related technologies.
  • Gain an understanding of jobs, processes and tasks associated with the general maintenance activities for the overall computing complex.
  • Work on a mentoring basis to monitor systems performance and availability using available system monitoring tools.
  • Become familiar with available documentation used for on-call duties, systems, processes, and problem solving.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Information Technology field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of four years as a mainframe application developer or operator is required.
  • Basic understanding of mainframe environment including JCL, job scheduling, TSO, on-line systems, DB and file systems and programming languages. (Knowledge of Assembler language is a plus).
  • Proficient troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
  • Able to function both independently and in a team environment
