American National is seeking a talented Supervisor, Computer Operations for our League City, Texas location. The Computer Operations Supervisor manages the organization’s 24/7/365 operation of the Data Center systems and the computer operation’s staff. The staff works with a variety of computers, including mainframe, midrange, micro-computers (servers) and peripherals (tape, disk, sans, printers, etc.). The supervisor leads the staff in maintaining the computer hardware and associated software; and is often the second responder (after the staff members) for any system problem that occur. The supervisor is a senior-level operations position, requiring the incumbent to know all the operator, production control, scheduling, and tape library functions at an expert level and be able to complete all advanced tasks. In addition, this position provides leadership and supervision to the computer operations and/or scheduling staff. This position is responsible for performing the following functions at the highest level of proficiency.



  • Supervises the personnel, work, job duties and training of all computer operators and/or scheduling staff. With overall responsibility for all aspects of computer operations and/or scheduling.
  • Assigns computer operations and/or scheduling personnel to workstations/work areas and ensures the resources are properly deployed with the appropriate training on associated systems.
  • Responsible for ensuring that operations and production control scheduling documentation and procedures are accurate and up to date. Approves recommended changes to existing operations, production control scheduling documentation, and procedures.
  • Manages staff PTO schedules to maintain proper staffing levels across all areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts employee performance evaluations.
  • Performs advanced daily operations functions in all environments and performs daily tasks as needed for production control scheduling and the tape librarian. Serves as a backup in emergency situations to any of the assigned personnel in computer operations and/or scheduling.
  • Supervises and directs the activities of others, including vendor personnel, during recovery operations associated with system and hardware failures.
  • Works with CTS support areas and vendors, schedules and oversees all machine room installations, repairs, maintenance of hardware, and systems ensuring service levels are maintained.
  • Coordinates all operations functions for disaster recovery exercises. Functions as the DR operations team lead and provides backup for DR coordinator functions.
  • Coordinates, manages, monitors, and participates in Sarbanes-Oxley anti-fraud law (SOX) compliance audits and related activities.
  • Coordinates with senior CTS management, building management, and building engineers on the monitoring of the Data Center facility’s infrastructure and related activities.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Nine or more years of experience in monitoring and maintaining mainframe and windows computing systems.
  • Five or more years of supervisory, management or team lead experience



Preferred Qualifications:

  • <span 72="">Prior IBM Mainframe and Window Servers experience
  • <span 72="">Knowledge of IMS, CICS, SDSF on mainframe, monitoring tools and mainframe scheduling systems
  • <span 72="">Previous experience with conflict resolution and coaching
  • Strong and effective leadership behaviors
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of leadership and partners throughout the enterprise
  • Ability to effectively delegate with purpose
  • Proven problem analyzer and problem solver on a variety of computing systems and platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
