American National s seeking a proven, dynamic Enterprise Architect to join our team! You will be accountable for the solution architecture, design, standards and frameworks necessary to support the software application delivery for the various business segments. Utilizing the defined target architecture, you will guide the process of planning and designing capabilities to maximize the value of IT delivery. Championing the innovative use of data, APIs, and cloud technology, you will develop blueprints and roadmaps to allow the company to make high impact long range decisions.
Your Impact:
- Lead solution architecture processes, including design, problem solving, creation of architectural design documents for multiple simple to moderately complex initiatives
- Assist in maintaining Application Portfolio for assigned domain/business unit, ensuring accuracy of inventories, and associated total cost of ownership, risk and long-term strategy
- Participate and may lead technical evaluations and benchmarking of core application platforms, frameworks, and technologies
- Provide input into the specification and publication of standards around application design and software engineering best practices
- With assistance of Lead Enterprise Architect, provide recommendations on system options, risks, cost/benefit analysis, and impact on cross-domain systems, business strategy, goals and processes
- Collaborate with extended enterprise architecture, business, and IT support teams to communicate architecture strategies, standards, and direction. Stay abreast of emerging technologies
- Participate in the establishment of reference architecture and domain models
- Encourage innovation, creative thought, and new ideas / solutions
- Maintains knowledge of third-party software vendors to leverage complementary offerings and effectively compare solutions
- Engage with software development teams to ensure best practices and standards are being implemented in all software development activities
What You Will Need to be Successful in this Role:
- Bachelor's degree
- Four to six years of application development experience including a minimum of one year experience in Application Architecture or related role
- Basic understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and/or Microservice frameworks
- Experience in design and development of software, n-tier architectures, web services, and object-oriented design
- Understanding of SQL databases systems and alternatives
- Experience designing and maintaining large enterprise software applications in high load, highly available environments
- Excellent listening and communications skills, both written and spoken, including ability to discuss and present information logically and concisely. o Experience with Agile/scrum and DevOps methods and tools. o Strong problem-solving skills. o Understanding of cloud-ready development patterns
Our Preferences:
- Experience in Financial Services and/or Insurance Industries.
- Experience with Mainframe platform design and architecture.
- Familiarity with both C#/.NET and Java-based frameworks.
