Manager, Claims (Auto)

The Property and Casualty Auto Liability Claims Department is seeking an experienced claims professional to lead and mentor liability adjusters. To thrive in this role, you should have more recent auto liability claims adjusting work experience, lead by example, place value on elevating the client experience, demonstrate a true interest in people development/training, and enjoy collaboration.


What Will You Do?

  • Oversee daily business operations (Interviews, onboarding, performance counsel, and ensure deadlines/goals are achieved)
  • Partner with leadership team(s) to support open communication that is focused on increasing/enhancing productivity, improving workflow processes, and maintaining/sustaining positive morale
  • Responsible for team adjusting activities, training programs, business proposals, technical results, quality, vendor management, and procurement
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and ongoing training regarding technical claims issues, while also responding to client concerns
  • Partner with employees to discuss and create developmental plans for heightened progress
  • Prepare and submit reports to leadership team(s)
  • Conduct quality assurance audits on open and closed claim files to ensure compliance with company guidelines and state laws/regulations
  • Ongoing evaluation of current processes and procedures to enhance efficiency
  • Manage Automatic Call Distributor (ACD.) phone system
  • Safeguard prompt reserving within company guidelines
  • Review and approve settlement authority
  • Guarantee that team members provide prompt, accurate, and equitable claims service
  • Maintain ongoing personal development courses

Qualifications Required:

  • Three years' auto liability claims adjusting experience 
  • Currently hold an appropriate state adjuster license or obtain following date of hire (American National will incur fees associated / No out of pocket expenses)
  • Availability to work an onsite schedule at the Springfield, MO. campus


Not Required, But Beneficial

  • Five years’ + auto claims adjusting work experience
  • Supervisory/management work experience
  • Completed industry designations (AIC, AIM, AIS, ARM, CISR)
  • Working knowledge of CCC or alike estimating programs
  • Understanding of statutes, case laws, and auto policy contracts
  • Ability to navigate various computer programs simultaneously while utilizing noted applications (Microsoft Office and internal systems)
