The modeler position is designed for individuals with a demonstrated understanding of statistics, predictive modeling, and analytical principles possessing a desire to take on technical and complicated issues.  The ideal candidate should have working experience with large datasets and feel comfortable communicating information to project team(s) when applicable. As a member of the P&C Research team, this individual will provide support across a variety of property and casualty lines of insurance. 



  • Focus on complex data retrieval and manipulation, advanced predictive modeling, and making decisions based upon the analysis
  • Represent Actuarial Services in inter-department teams, knowing when to provide answers to questions and when to bring issues to management
  • Trains less experienced analysts with spreadsheets, databases, and sources of data used in analyses
  • Manage more complicated projects, including developing methods / templates
  • Work with various departments internally



  • Completed 4-year degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics, or related field, or the equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years actuarial or statistical analysis experience; Master’s Degree in statistics or related field may be substituted for experience
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills and database knowledge preferred
  • Experience with SQL, R, SAS, Python or Emblem is desired
  • Modeling experience is preferred but not required
  • Must possess aptitude for data manipulation and software engineering
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for business, technology, and/or project management roles
