How you will make an impact

  • Manage residential property claims that are of higher complexity (Typically, $100K losses or above) first party property (Homeowner’s / Rental) claims, with no liability
  • Conduct phone interviews and investigations to determine damages, obtaining recorded statements when applicable
  • Review loss notices and complex policy forms to determine proper coverage, contact clients, investigate the facts surrounding the loss, while complying and understanding compliance of Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act, insurance laws, and regulations in all states assigned
  • Adjudicate all aspects of the claims handling process under minimal supervision
  • Review and recognize complex issues that require presentation to management, in-house counsel, defense counsel, and internal committee
  • Establish and maintain proper reserves
  • Determine the appropriate method of inspection for loss
  • Draft professional written correspondence regarding various aspects of the claim
  • Communicate and promote professional relationships with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and internal clients regarding the ongoing status of claims files
  • Assist in mentoring other claims representatives within the department, when applicable
  • Complete ongoing continuing education to maintain active adjuster license(s)


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six (6) years’ property claims handling experience
  • Currently hold an active (Texas) adjuster license or must obtain following date of hire (American National will incur fees associated / No out of pocket expenses)  


Preferred Qualifications

  • Four (4) year completed degree in related field (Criminal Justice, Insurance and Risk Management, Business, Communications)
  • Eight (8+) years' property claims handling experience
  • Understand coverage(s), including debris removal, trees, shrubs, plants, housing code upgrades, and additional living expenses
  • Working knowledge of Xactimate or alike estimating programs
  • Understanding of statutes, case laws, and policy contracts
  • Passion to provide the highest quality of customer service
  • Effective and organized multi-tasker, with the ability to focus when items require your attention for review
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time and provide appropriate follow-up
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to navigate various computer programs simultaneously, while utilizing noted applications (Microsoft Office and internal systems)

“Salary for this position can range from $54,147 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $67,684 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.”
