Underwriter III

American National is hiring for a Commercial/Agriculture Underwriter III. This position underwrites new and renewal commercial and agricultural business over an assigned territory. The Underwriter III will maintain relationships with agent partners and teammates, providing support on coverage, rating, risk appetite, or system inquiries. They will also participate in assigned projects.
 

What Will you do?
•    Evaluate new business, policy changes, and renewal accounts working within specified guidelines to make decisions and knowingly take risk. 
•    Practice effective communication to agency and internal partners providing underwriting support.
•    Understand form language and be able to provide coverage and class code opinions.
•    Coordinate with manager and other internal partners to identify regional specific needs and issues affecting their assigned territory.
•    Be proactive in field outreach and communicating within assigned territory.
•    Understand and make decisions on multiple products associated with commercial and agriculture accounts.
•    Monitor workflow and communicate observations of trends, agent or system performance issues, or other areas of opportunity.
•    Present content to team or territory groups as needed.
•    Participate in agency visits, whether virtual or in person.
•    Complete smaller independent projects, growing subject matter expertise.
•    Participate in larger group projects, working with interdepartmental partners to complete necessary tasks.
•    Mentor and support others within the Underwriting team as needed.
 

Qualifications
•    Four to six years of insurance industry experience 
•    Professional insurance designations or completed coursework preferred

Salary for this position can range from $63,219.00 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $94,828.50 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education.
