Manager, Statutory Financial Reporting

American National is seeking to hire a Statutory Reporting Manager to join our Team! 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and motivate a team of accounting professionals to ensure the completion of consistently accurate work within a deadline driven environment
  • Responsible for managing the preparation and submission of statutory financial reports required by various state insurance departments, the NAIC, and management reporting, including preparation of board reports, for four Texas domiciled L/H companies
  • Oversight and review of monthly statutory reporting and effective communication of results
  • Oversight and review of all statutory quarterly and annual filings to the NAIC and state insurance departments
  • Oversight and review of annual statutory audited financials and coordination of audit with external auditors
  • Research new accounting and reporting guidance
  • Participate on a cross-company team to implement new guidance
  • Special projects as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree in accounting or finance
  • 4 years of supervisory or management experience and/or 2 years of supervisory or management experience coupled with 2+ years of internal company experience
  • Preference given to CPA or candidate, insurance industry experience and/or designations, or internal experience at American National
  • Statutory reporting experience is preferred
  • Demonstrates an aptitude and excellence for leading and collaborating with team members
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of building productive and collaborative relationships
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with the pressure of both accuracy and meeting strict deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and available to work overtime as needed to meet objectives
