Senior Programmer Analyst II

The Life/Annuity Systems Analysis Team within Application Development and Support is currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Programmer Analyst II for our Galveston, Texas location.

 

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Proficient in the development of complex Visual Product/Modeling System (VP/MS) models to support the implementation and maintenance of sophisticated life and annuity insurance products.
  • Based on Actuarial product requirements, create technical design specifications that describe the required VP/MS model functionality, as well as the associated attributes (inputs) and properties (outputs).
  • Unit test VP/MS models and assist with system testing and implementation of models in the policy administration and illustration systems.
     

Requirements:

  • Mathematics, Actuarial Science or IT-related bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Seven or more years of experience working in the life insurance or annuity industry, including experience with life insurance or annuity administration or illustration systems.
  • Knowledge of life insurance principles and calculations.
  • Experience with product development is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are necessary. 
  • Must be able to perform analysis, development, and testing tasks with minimal direction from others.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must be self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to work in a fast paced environment with constant change.
  • Must be able to work occasional night and weekend hours.

 

Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum seven years of programming or developer experience, preferably in a life insurance administration system and/or an annuity administration system.
