Actuarial Analyst 

American National is seeking a self-driven and enthusiastic full-time, Actuarial Analyst, who is interested in joining the Product and Pricing team.  The ideal candidate should be proficient in Excel, have familiarity in programming languages, and eager to continually develop actuary skills.   • Learn fundamental actuarial principles and apply when analyzing company and industry data to prepare for actuarial analyses
  • Learn processes and begin to perform and document actuarial analyses promptly and accurately
  • Learn and begin to utilize spreadsheets, databases, and sources of data used in actuarial analyses
  • Prepare summaries of actuarial analyses for distribution
  • Assist with assigned rate reviews and pricing related projects 
  • Collaborate with various internal teams when applicable
  • Complete and communicate actuarial analyses such as actuarial exhibits, pricing, loss reserving, financial planning, modeling, and other data analyses/tasks as assigned
  • Support core actuarial functions (Pricing, reserving, modeling) responsible for ensuring profitability, growth and the financial strength of the organization



  • Completed 4-year degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or related field, or the equivalent is preferred
  • Completed exams, preferred
  • Must be available onsite, at the Springfield Missouri campus
  • Strong spreadsheet and database skills preferred
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office programs and proficiency in Excel
  • Programming experience (SQL, VB, or R) preferred
  • Must be comfortable working both independently and on a team
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must demonstrate noted skills: Organization, Detail, and Effective time management
