We are seeking a Modeler to join our growing team. In this position you will focus on complex data retrieval and manipulation, advanced predictive modeling, advanced dynamic financial modeling, and making decisions based on these analyses. In this exam track, actuarial, position you will be eligible to participate in our robust Actuarial Student Program. 

 

What You'll Do: 

  • Works with Corporate Technology Services, actuarial, underwriting, marketing, and other areas to understand data structures, determine data definitions, and evaluate the accuracy of data elements and metrics
  • Works with project and business analysts to answer any questions for all projects they are involved with. They should also go to management as necessary to ensure that the projects are progressing as expected
  • Writes simple data extraction software code, using the tools, standards, and platforms in use at the time
  • Develops databases, spreadsheets, and reports for use within the department using the tools, standards, and platforms in use at the time
  • Retrieves, scrubs, and manipulates data for use in predictive and/or dynamic financial modeling projects
  • Uses the appropriate tools (GLM software or other techniques as appropriate) to build predictive and/or dynamic financial models for use in actuarial, using the tools, standards, and platforms in use at the time
  • Uses actuarial and business judgment to implement decisions based on predictive and/or dynamic financial models
  • Uses guidance as provided by Actuarial Standard of Practice 41 to assist in the creation of appropriate documentation for projects
  • Reviews rate filings and other available information to do competitive analysis studies
  • Reviews state regulatory requirements to determine the appropriateness of various modeling decisions
  • Ensures the data they produce remains secure, respecting corporate privacy and security procedures

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A college degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field, or the equivalent, is preferred
  • At least two years of actuarial or statistical analysis experience 
  • 3 actuarial exams 

 

 

 

Salary for this position can range from $73,000 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $117,00 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
