Underwriter III

American National is seeking a Portfolio Underwriter to join the Portfolio Underwriting team. This position will have exciting opportunities to help drive the success of American National through data-driven decision making. As an Underwriting Consultant on the Portfolio Underwriting team, you will have the opportunity to display your problem-solving skills, performing data analysis, to identify solutions on various key performance indicators. 


What will you do?
Through data-driven analysis and trend identification, this position will have an impact on current and future underwriting division decisions. Portfolio Underwriters solve problems, without a specified or known solution, using data, to identify key drivers of performance that lead to profitable growth and business opportunity. Portfolio Underwriters consistency identify emerging trends striving to understand “the why”.


Experience
4-6+ years Ag/Commercial Underwriting or Actuary Experience. Ideal candidate will have significant experience on both Ag/Commercial.
Solid technical knowledge of common insurance industry operations and processes


Skills
Effective and organized multi-tasker
Detail oriented
Ability to effectively manage time and provide appropriate follow-up
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to evaluate data and make recommendations from said data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
Strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Must be very proficient in Microsoft Excel


Education
A bachelor's degree in a related field
Chartered Property Casual Underwriter or other professional insurance designation preferred

Salary for this position can range from $63,219.00 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $94,828.50 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education.
