American National is seeking a full-time, Accounts Payable Specialist team member for the Payables/Receivables Department. You will serve as the front-line quality review expert who analyzes checks for accuracy and resolves issues of discrepancy. To be successful in the position, you should enjoy data entry, finding solutions, researching information, and continual learning.
Onsite Placement Location: League City, Texas
What will you do:
Create transactions for payments, deposits, check stops, or returns, and analyze accounting entries
Set-up and oversee reports, complete regular reconciliations of general ledger or vendor accounts
Review vendor information for correct payment terms and/or payment methods
Examine and correct accounting errors related to payments
Meet daily goals
Be flexible in assisting with projects that may arise
Prepare appropriate accounting transactions (journal entries, payments, deposits) in accordance with established procedures
Develop skills in sales & use tax guidance from the tax department and apply to payments
Audit payment processing to ensure that all aspects produce an accurate and supported payment
Perform basic ledger account reconciliations and electronic billing file reconciliations, as well as assist in clearing reconciling items
Recognize inconsistencies and non-conformance to standards, judge when to deviate from standards
Qualifications:
Professional work experience
General accounting skills, beneficial
Microsoft Office Suite skills
Comfortability of being actively cross trained on all job duties within the department to back up various team members as-needed
