Commercial Real Estate, Portfolio Manager

American National is seeking a full-time, Portfolio Manager. To thrive in this position, the individual selected must have commercial real estate experience, a clear understanding of how to effectively manage a portfolio, and an innate desire to keep an active pulse on the market. 

 

Placement Location: League City, Texas


What will you do?
•    Serve as an asset/portfolio manager for a sub-portfolio of the company’s mortgage loan and real estate analysis
•    Perform situational analysis of investments, performance, emerging issues/trends, and propose solutions
•    Colloborate with partners on business planning, capital needs, problem solving, underwriting, and valuation
•    Communicate with borrowers and correspondents in valuing underlying collateral for mortgage loans, analyzing potential distress, negotiating potential solutions to problem loans
•    Work with investment sale brokers to sell properties, including reviewing and approving offering memorandum, responding to information requests, contract negotiations, etc.
•    Present investment recommendations to Mortgage Loan and Real Estate Investment Committee and Investment Committee
•    Conduct market tours and property inspections
•    Maintain market knowledge of industry and market trends – be a student of the industry
•    Conduct face-to-face meetings with partners, correspondents, and borrowers in support of relationship management
•    Provide detailed underwriting analysis, answering any questions or concerns from committee members to provide justifications for their approval and merit of the company’s investment
•    Manage and review monthly construction draws, equity fulfillments, and construction loan conversions
•    Function as a liaison with other professionals, such as attorneys and loan servicing professionals, to facilitate loan workouts and modifications

 

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Real Estate, or Business
•    Four to Six years of experience in the real estate or mortgage financing industry with direct knowledge of commercial real estate 
•    Exceptional people and communication skills, including collaboration in a team environment
•    Advanced relationship management skills with the ability to maintain good working relationships with all levels of employees, management, and third parties
•    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
•    Ability to handle multiple tasks and be detail oriented
•    Ability to present information to groups of individuals at varying levels within the enterprise
•    Exceptional data and analytical skills

 

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience across sectors (Hospitality, office, retail, industrial, land) and capital stack (debt, equity, JVs) preferred
•    Proficiency in Excel and Argus preferred
