American National is seeking a Real Estate Analyst for our League City, TX corporate location.  This role will assist mortgage loan officers in producing and analyzing mortgage loan investments and the mortgage loan portfolio for the Company, present recommendations to various committees, and ultimately become a producer.



  • Assist asset managers in soliciting and originating commercial mortgage loans as part of the joint venture program as well as soliciting joint venture opportunities.
  • Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine degree of risk.
  • Perform industry research and use to compile comparative reports comparing real estate investments to current industry data.
  • Continuously monitor the joint venture and real estate portfolios: review industry trends, compare our portfolio to the market, determine which properties are ready for disposition, find additional markets and product types.
  • Research statistical data to assist with the Investment Planning
  • Prepare reports for presentation by Senior Management
  • Dissect the joint venture and real estate portfolios to determine trends and other ongoing analysis
  • Underwrites and may negotiate modifications to existing mortgage loans and recommend action to the various investment committees.
  • Prepares and maintains minutes of the JV Pipeline meetings
  • Produces joint venture investments for subsidiary companies that meet their investment criteria.
  • Reviews and approves third party inspection reports related to closing loans.
  • Coordinates joint venture closing and ensure a timely closing process on all transactions.
  • Sources new contacts and relationships for the company with respect to mortgage bankers, developers, joint venture partners and sources of business.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Real Estate or Business or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in investment analysis and appraisals is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be analytical and detail oriented
  • Combination of analytical skills and the ability to build strong relationships to assist in identifying good investment opportunities and then produce quality long term investments
  • Experience with mortgage loan underwriting terms and techniques is required
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with all levels of employees, management and third parties
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills
