Senior Computer Operator
American National is hiring a Senior Computer Operator to work at our Data Center in League City, TX. The computer operators work with various types of computers, including mainframe, iSeries, servers, and peripherals (tape, disk, sans, printers, etc.). In this role you will be familiar with all operator and production control functions at an advanced level and be able to complete all advanced tasks. You will be responsible for performing the functions of the position at an advanced level of proficiency, working toward an expert level of proficiency.
What You’ll Do:
• Perform all operator functions on all production computing environment groups with an advanced level of knowledge and understanding of the systems being operated including advanced production control scheduling tasks.
• Work with multiple teams including outside vendors to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production environment issues, and provide primary support with recovery activity at an advanced level during system and hardware failures.
• Perform all functions such as IPLs and server reboots on all production environment groups at an advanced level.
• Ensure that operations, production control scheduling documentation and procedures are accurate and up to date.
• Recommend and implement improvements to existing operations, production control scheduling documentation and procedures.
• Collaborate with members of Job Scheduling and other CTS teams to produce more efficient processing across all production environment groups.
• Support junior personnel with issues, escalated problems and serves as a second level responder.
• Log/document errors and follow established procedures for resolving and/or escalating incidents.
• Communicate with other team members on key events, activities, turnovers, and assist in developing training plans.
• Assist with the training of junior members of the Operations team.
• Accept training and mentoring from other members of the operations team and other CTS teams.
• Perform system hardware servicing individually or with the assistance of support staff and/or vendors.
• Assist in the monitoring of Data Center facilities infrastructure, related activities and works with facility personnel to address problems with building environmental equipment.
• Supports and participates in Disaster Recovery exercises.
What You’ll Need:
• Four to Six years of related experience.
• College degree in IT or related field preferred.
• Computer related certifications preferred
• Ability and willingness to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather conditions
• Excellent communication skills
• Acute attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal relationships and ability to get along with others
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Strong problem analysis and resolution capabilities
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products
