Staff Accountant
American National is seeking a full-time, Staff Accountant in the Treasury Department. You will be working independently, supporting your direct supervisor and team, with the goal to ensure quality results, process improvements, automation efforts, and tackling emerging trends. To thrive in the position, you should have banking knowledge - specific to treasury, understand banking terminology (ACH / Debits-Credits), have advanced skills in Excel, and general accounting knowledge.

What will you do?
Match bank statement items to cash general ledger (GL) transactions and prepare SAP GL entries to correct errors or amend incomplete accounting
Generate and review portions of the monthly consolidated cash validation report, producing the final report for peer review prior to sign off by manager or assistant treasurer
Assist with implementing process improvements and automation
Maintain the SAP check registers for all companies to ensure effectiveness as the source of valid issued checks to avoid fraud
Partner with business areas and technical teams to design accounting processes that ensure accurate recording of cash and assist with testing
Detect and support resolution of system issues that impact cash, especially checks
Responsible for using prepared excel workbooks and existing procedures to calculate accruals or corrections for transactions that are Treasury’s responsibility, such as interest on corporate debt, bank fees, and credit card rebates
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or applicable work experience considered (Treasury/Banking)
Professional and relevant industry work experience (Treasury/banking knowledge, General accounting background)
Microsoft Office Suite experience (Advanced skills in Excel)
SAP knowledge is beneficial
