Actuarial Analyst I

American National is seeking an Actuarial Analyst for our P&C Research area. The ideal candidate should possess a desire to learn and apply actuarial and statistical principles on technical and complicated issues. As a member of the P&C Research team, this individual will provide support across a variety of property and casualty lines of insurance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparation and execution of assigned projects, including data analysis and predictive analytics.
  • Assist in data retrieval and manipulation for use in assigned projects and ad hoc analysis
  • Learn fundamental actuarial principles for use in analyzing company and industry data to prepare actuarial analyses
  • Summarize and communicate findings within actuarial services and in inter-department teams
  • Prepares for and progresses in the CAS examinations through on-the-job and home study

 

 Qualifications:

  • Completed 4-year degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics or related field, or the equivalent is preferred.
  • Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam and a commitment to achieving membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society required.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude is required.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Computer experience with knowledge of spreadsheet and database software desired.
