Director, Underwriting


Are you an Underwriting professional who has successfully led commercial and/or Agriculture multi-line teams, managed risk, understands facultative insurance has experience in growing/managing business in assigned territories, and is knowledgeable with middle market portfolios? As a Director of Underwriting, you will utilize your combined skills in the noted areas to elevate organizational goals and bring fresh ideas to current processes and procedures. 

 

Placement Locations: Glenmont, NY. & Springfield, MO.


What will you do?
Oversee regional standard and middle market teams, responsible for effective business operations that include business growth, profitability, and policy retention
Partner with leadership teams to support open communication that is focused on increasing/enhancing productivity, improving workflow processes, and maintaining/sustaining positive morale
Provide recommendations on underwriting philosophies and guidelines for risk assessment and selection
Analyze renewal books of business and determine sustainability
Evaluate referrals and determine appropriate measures
Collaborate with other strategic areas, including Risk Services leadership, who partner closely with the middle market team

 
Qualifications:
Proficiency in commercial lines and middle market accounts (Agriculture lines of business beneficial but not required) 
5 years+ professional experience effectively leading commercial lines underwriting teams
Loss control/Risk services knowledge, understanding concepts, practices, terms is a plus
Facultative reinsurance experience 

 

Preferred Qualifications:
CPCU or industry relevant insurance designations
