Senior Claims Specialist


Do you have experience adjusting auto claims, and are looking for the next step in your career? American National is hiring a Senior Claims Specialist to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle Commercial Auto Injury claims. You should have liability claims adjusting work experience, a solid understanding of the claims handling process, and demonstrate successful negotiation skills. In this role you will handle commercial auto injury claims only; there will be no property damage adjusting required.


What Will You Do? 


•           Manage commercial auto claims
•           Read and interpret complex documents including policy forms, legal/medical documents, and expert reports
•           Analyze coverage issues and properly evaluate liability and damages
•           Timely contact and promotion of professional relationships with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and internal clients, regarding the ongoing status of claims files
•           Recognize and analyze complex issues that require effective presentation to management, attorneys, and internal committee(s)
•           Establish and maintain proper reserves
•           Negotiate settlements based upon the review of all facts
•           Draft professional written correspondence regarding various aspects of the claim
•           Comply with applicable Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act(s), insurance laws, and regulations in all states assigned
•           Complete ongoing continuing education to maintain active adjuster license(s)


Required Skills 


•           A minimum of four years of injury claims handling experience
•           Currently hold or willingness to obtain an appropriate state adjuster license following date of hire (American National will incur fees associated / No out of pocket expenses) 


Not required, but beneficial 

•           Four year completed degree in related field (Criminal Justice, Insurance and Risk Management, Business, Communications)
•           Commercial claims and coverage analysis experience
•           Experience handling liability claims in a large territory to include multiple states and jurisdictions   
•           Experience attending mediations and established negotiation skills
•           Technical skill set in Guidewire system
